Privacy Policy
Effective October 30, 2026
This policy explains what information Mechvibes collects when you use mechvibes.com (the "site"), including the sound pack library, and how that information is used. It does not cover the Mechvibes desktop app.
Information we collect
Account information. You can browse and download sound packs without an account. To share, fork or report a pack you sign in with Discord, GitHub, Google or X. From that provider we receive your name, email address, whether the email is verified, your profile picture and your account ID on that provider. We do not receive your password.
Sign-in sessions. When you sign in we store a session record with your IP address and browser user agent, so you stay signed in and we can protect your account. The provider's access tokens are kept with your account so the sign-in keeps working.
Content you share. Sound packs you upload (audio files, config, icon and license), their name, description, tags and license, and reports you send about a pack, including any message you write.
Usage data. We count how many times each pack is downloaded, without recording who downloaded it. If analytics are enabled, Google Analytics collects pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location.
How we use information
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To publish your sound packs and show you as their author.
- To review reports, remove content that breaks our terms and prevent abuse.
- To match packs from the old Mechvibes archive to their original authors, so they can claim them.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your sign-in data for advertising.
What is public
Published sound packs are public: anyone can see and download them together with the author name, license and download count. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Packs from the old archive
The library includes packs that were shared publicly on the old Mechvibes website, its submission forms and the community Discord. These packs credit their original authors. To let an author claim a pack, we keep the Discord account ID the pack was posted from, or a one-way hash of the email address used to submit it, never the email itself. If you are the author and want a pack removed, contact us using the details below.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the site: our hosting provider for the server and database, Cloudflare R2 for storing sound pack files, the sign-in provider you choose, and Google for analytics and ads when they are enabled. They process data only to provide their service to us.
Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we request only your basic profile (name, email address and profile picture) through the openid, email and profile scopes. We use it solely to create and identify your Mechvibes account. We do not access your Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google data, we do not share Google user data with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising or to train AI models. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and packs while your account exists. You can delete your own packs from your profile at any time. To delete your account and its data, contact us and we will do so within 30 days. Sessions expire on their own. Packs removed by moderators are kept hidden so a mistaken removal can be undone. Records of moderation actions are kept for safety, without your account details once the account is deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it. You can also revoke Mechvibes's access at any time from the security settings of your Discord, GitHub, Google or X account.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we change the effective date above, and for significant changes we post a notice on the site or in the community Discord.
Contact
For privacy questions or requests, including account deletion, email [email protected]. You can also reach us on the Mechvibes Discord or open an issue on GitHub. See also our Terms of Service.
