Terms of Service
Effective October 30, 2026
These terms apply to mechvibes.com (the "site") and its sound pack library. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
The service
Mechvibes is a free, open-source app that plays sounds as you type. The site lets you download the app and browse, download and share sound packs. The app itself is released under the MIT License, published in its repository.
Accounts
You need an account, created through Discord, GitHub, Google or X, to share, fork or report sound packs. You must be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for activity on your account and must not share it or sign in as someone else. We may suspend or ban accounts that break these terms.
Your sound packs
You keep ownership of the packs you upload. By publishing a pack, you give us permission to store, display, distribute and make it available for download through the site and the Mechvibes app, and you make it available to others under the license you choose for it (MIT, CC BY 4.0, CC0, Personal use or a custom license).
You promise that you have the right to share every sound, icon and file in your pack under that license. Do not upload recordings you do not own or have permission to use.
Packs are checked automatically when uploaded. A pack that fails the checks is not published. You can edit or delete your own packs at any time; packs that others already downloaded stay with them under the license they received.
Using packs from the library
Each pack is provided by its author under the license shown on its page. Follow that license: for example, CC BY 4.0 requires credit to the author, and Personal use packs may not be redistributed or used commercially. Only MIT, CC BY 4.0 and CC0 packs can be forked on the site.
Packs from the old archive
Some packs were imported from the old Mechvibes website, its submission forms and the community Discord, where they had been shared publicly. They credit their original authors and are offered for personal use. Original authors can claim their packs by signing in with the matching Discord account or email address, or ask us to remove them.
What is not allowed
- Content that infringes copyright or other rights, including sounds ripped from games, films or music without permission.
- Sexual, hateful, harassing or violent content, or content that is illegal.
- Malware, files disguised as something else, or anything meant to harm users or their devices.
- Spam, misleading names or descriptions, and repeated uploads of the same pack.
- Attempting to break, overload or get around the security of the site.
Reports and takedowns
If a pack breaks these terms or uses your work without permission, use the Report button on its page or contact us. We review reports and may remove a pack, with or without notice. If your pack was removed by mistake, contact us and we will look at it again.
Disclaimer
The site, the app and all sound packs are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Packs are made by the community; we do not guarantee their quality, accuracy or that they are free of errors.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Mechvibes and its maintainers are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the site, the app or any sound pack.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we change the effective date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
